It is with deep regret that we chronicle the dcath of Mr. Sophus Edmonds, which took place at his bome in Summerville, on the 15th inet. Deceased was the only son of P. J. D. Edmunds, and his death at the early aze of 23 years has caused great sorrow turoughout the neighbor- hood .

After a successful course in St. Dan- stan’s College, he spent a few years teaching, firet at Lower Cardigan and more recently at Head Si. Peter’s Bay, in both of which places he earned for himself, by his integrity, the esteem of both old and young.

About two years ago, owing to ill-health, he gave up teaching, and since that time had never enjoyed his former good health. A few months ago it became evident that, notwithstanding the best medical attend - ance and every comfort which love could prompt, death had marked him for its own.

He bore his illaess patiently, and forti- fied by the last rites of the Catholic Church passed peacefully away.

A large number of people followed hie remains to St. Joachim’s Church, Vernon River, where a solemn Requiem Mass was celebrated by Rev. D. Doyle, after which the remains were consigned to their last resting place. To his sorrowsstricker parents, relatives and friends, we tendne our hearifelt s.mpathby.

It is with deepest regret that we chronicle the death of Mr. Michael Callaghen, one of the oldest end most respec'ed members of our community, which occurred st his home, Riverdale, on Sunday, the 6th of May, at the advanced age of 76 years. The deceased was iu hig usval good bealth until a short time previous to his death, when he was attack- ed by a severe cold which gradually be- came worse,and despite all that ekilled medica} rid and loviog friends could do he passed peacefully away.
