MILWAUKEE advices state that for an almost uninterrupted distance of 100 miles north of Stevens’ Point, on the line of the Wisconsin Central, forest fires are raging, and hundreds of men are fighting the flames, seeking to save the towns and villages hemmed in by them. An immense amount of damage has already been done.

At the Stipendiary Magistrate's Court this forenoon a woman who is in the habit of get- ting outside of too much fire-water and making herself obnoxious to citizens generally, was sentenced to three months’ imprisonment. The case of Fred. McLean, charged with ob- taining goods under false pretences, was fur- ther adjourned until Friday.
