WINTER CARNIVAL

CARNIVAL IS coming! January 24th—30th, the stu- dents of UPEI will be treated to a mid-winter festival of fun and frolic. Some of the scheduled events include:

Campus Comedy Cabaret with Tony Quinn. *Anyone wishing to be a_ stand-up comic shouldn’t miss this!!

Tues. Jan. 26th

Beach Party at the Barn! *Shake — off those winter blues, it’s summer at the Barn!! Video dance. Great specials and lots of give aways. Promises to be a HOT time!

Sat. Jan. 30th’

There are still other events in the planning. Schedules will be available for the complete week soon. The Panther Lounge will be open throughout, with great, low prices and specials. Don’t miss it!

Its that time of the year again- registering, course se- lection, labs assignments, etc. Where am I going to find the time you ask your- self. Well, on eof the best things you can do to help organize your time and use it more efficiently is to take THE EFFECTIVE READ- ING course. It’s one of the best credits you can give yourself, though it is a non- credit course. Its the best $45 you'll ever invest. How do I know?

Because I took it. Here are just some of the benifits I got from it; -more efficive note tak- ing in class/home -more effe- cive study skills -how to look up info and research -how to read charts/graphs quickly -increased reading compre and vocabulary and the list goes on and on.

Effective Reading

Another big bonus in that the course is only six weeks. I won’t kid you though, there is alot of work to be done in these six weeks. It is, however, self-paced and its an on going process so you can continue long after the six weeks. And you'll find that you will want to con- tinue and won’t even notice the hours yoo are putting in because the readings are so interesting plus all of the other work also. Its a whole new experience. And no! its not just for slow readers quite the opposite actually- the better you are, all the more reason to take the course. Go for it! Beleive me you won’t regret it.

We hold the trophy and would like to keep it this year!), a debate for the CFS Na- tional Week of Action in Jan- uary, a demonstration debate in the pit, and we hope te have two team members de- bate with Premier Joe Ghi?
