‘Results May Vary' When Listening To New Limp Bizkit.

Some people really like Limp Bizkit, while others wish Fred Durst and Co. would fall off the face of the earth; I'm somewhere in-between. They've written some catchy tunes such as ‘Break Stuff,' ‘Rollin’ and ‘Nookie,' but when | looked at Limp Bizkit, all | could see was an angry, bald-headed lead singer, frontin' an overblown rap-metal band, who couldn't sing and compensated by screaming obscenities throughout his songs. (Whatever works for you, though, right?) Yeah, well, | was kinda wrong. On their fourth album, ‘Results May Vary,' Durst is still angry, defiant, with a "me against the world atti- tude," but he's mellowed a lit- tle— his vocals are more laid back and reserved than before, as he gives singing a try. Durst doesn't have great vocal chops, but his bandmates work with what they have, and accommo- date him admirably on tracks like ‘Build a Bridge,’ ‘Drown,’ ‘Lonely World' ‘Down Another Day' and their cover of The Who's ‘Behind Blue Eyes.’ It

can even be argued Durst is a better singer than he is a rap- per, but when he's given the right rapper to trade rhymes with, as in Snoop Dogg on the song ‘Red Light— Green Light,’ he succeeds in his own right. For those who love Durst and Bizkit full of piss and vinegar, no worries— the band turns up the volume on ‘Gimme The Mic’ and the rockin,’ if somewhat disturbing ‘Eat You Alive,’ where Durst sings about stalking some girl and wanting to sniff her panties. (That's more than | needed to know, Fred.)

There are some sub-par tunes on ‘Results' — ‘Head For The Barricade’ and ‘Phenomenon’ could have been left off the cd, and no one would have missed them. But on the whole, the album isn't half bad; fans of Limp Bizkit will eat this album up. I'm still not a big fan of these guys, yet | begrudg- ingly have a deeper respect for the mo-fo's, as ‘Results May Vary' shows they may be around a little longer than most people thought.
