Well, the Student Union read my review of The Barn (in the March 20th Cadre), agreed with every word of it and decided to make the changes I suggested. (Okay. some of that is a lie.) There will be changes made with the new student center, not as a result of my article, but because of all the stu- dents who agreed that changes were needed, which includes at least some of your elected officials, because next year things will apparently be different. Either they agree or are just catering to the students (either way, it is good for you, the student). :

will be. Students who have the fortune of returning to UPEI next year will enjoy a new bar with modern ameni- ties. There will be one main bar at the new student centre with satellite bars available for greater service when needed. A partial wall will separate the bar area from the games room. According to Student Union President Cynthia Dennis, the bar is planned to have a capacity of approximately 1,000 and the SU is attempting to secure a license that would allow for minors to be permitted in the bar as well. —~ The main bar space will be a multi-purpose space, but the SU is hop- ing to have a dance floor with lights available for students. Next year’s stu- dent bar is being built to allow for

music to be played from a DJ booth on some nights and to accommodate a live band on other nights. Dennis said that the Student Union hopes to move into the- building 3 in August, but the grand < opening will likely not take place until” the Back to School Pub during New. Student Orientation Week. Some things are still being worked out, and costs are still to be computed. The price of drinks has not been finalized, and other details, suchas types of music and DJs still have to be determined.

Dennis also noted that another important feature of the new bar will be the availability of food service. She said that Chartwell’s will supply the food for the Cafeteria area but that the
