topic areas that will form the initial database upon Which this service is to grow. All student associations have received a list of these requested topic areas. New areas in which we are looking for

more information are regularly publicized in the

CFS Bulletin. Until Oct. 31, 1983, all information contributed will receive double the normal credit rate. For the service to continue to grow, student

associations must contribute information on an ongoing basis so that other student groups may have the benefit of their experience. The CFS Information 'Resource Service has the potential to be one of the most useful

and relevant internal activities of the Canadian student movement. For this

Questions and Answers

Q: What do we receive for sending in information?

A: For every page sent into the system your organization will receive a credit that you can draw from the system later on.

Q: How much does the service cost?

A: For every page requested there is a $.09 page cost and a $.90 postage and handling fee.

Q: Do student unions have to be members of CFS to make use of this service?

A: No. The CFS Information Resource Service

is open to all interested StUdent organizations regardless of affiliation.

CFS members and prospective members however, do receive a discount of $.02 a page.

Q: Will small institutions benefit from this service?

A: Yes. The Information Resource Service will benefit both large and

small institutions by making

available system-wide information on a broad range of topics. Student associations at small institutions have much to contribute to the service, and gain from its use.

Information submitted during the first 5 months of the service (i.e. until Oct. 31, 1983) will receive a double credit that may be applied against charges.

Q: Does the service

require a computer terminal and knowledge of computer use?

A: No. The

Information Resourse Service is indexed, filed, and updated on a word processor but does not require computer access on your part to obtain information. Requests for information

will eventually be made on standard order forms made available th rough CFS-Services and do not

require computer knowledge.

Q: What sort of information should be sent in from our files?

A: For the most part, we will br requesting information on partticular topics as we need them. Information requested by the service and contributed by

associations will receive credit (the period ending Oct. 31/1983 will be a

double credit period).
