try Club sure was a good time. Surprisingly so, I might add. I arrived late

. but there was no line up. The young lady collecting the $1 cover charge was extremely friendly and ext- remely beautiful (lord have mercy). The doormen Were just friendly. I sat at.a small

' table on the second level overlooking the dance floor.‘ Service was prompt (the waitresses were also beaut- iful) as I ordered my usual‘ beer 90¢ and rye and ginger

and $1.10 and the cover charge of $1 is in effect every night the club is open which is Wednesday through Saturday. Hours of operation are 4:30 pm to 1:00 am. But, in about 6 weeks, a new 10— funge will be opened to the ' public so the new hours will be 11:00 am to 1:00 am.

woke up during a fine rend- ftion of "Burning Love", even applauded as best he could, but soon passed out again. The music was easy rock, good to dance to.(in~ his case good for sleeping also)

It has a very cozy appeare— nce. The doorman plan to keep it this way. There was a very tight crowd control, but the doormen remained polite and friendly through— out the evening. No trouble occured, so I went back down

we received a delightful surprise this week on our visit to the Windmill Res— taurant, on Lower Prince. We were aware of its repu- tation for good cooking, but, having never visited it before, we were pleasan- tly surprised to find such a charming atmosphere and such low prices.

What sets this reaurant apart is its homelike atmo— sphere, which one feels is not deliberately created, but natural and unforced.

How can you compare the Showboat to anyplace? The Showboat is One of the most beautiful nightclubs in the Maritimes. I really felt like I had some class when. I entered (unlike the way I usually feel). The cover charge was only $1 (Monday.. through Thursday). It's $2

nce I was dressed rather "spiffy" I had no trouble obtaining a seat (Management frowns on jeans). My usual drink order cost me $2.40. ($1.05 for beer and‘$1.35 -for shots). Day prices are

Give up?... It was the Happy Dolls from Korea. They really put on a great show. The Showboat also has the week's band play on Saturday after- noon. There is no cost, and the show is generally a jam session, so you can go and .bring along an instrument (it runs form 3 to 5 o'clo- ck).

By the way, daily hours are 11:30 am to 1:00 am. On Saturday hours are 2:30 pm to 1:00 am. .

Saving the best for last I'll comment on the decor. It's just tremendously classy. It's got expensive drapery thick red carpets, nice soft lighting and a big glass, ball directly over the dance floor that reflects light. The dance floor is very lar—

ge and is completely surrou— nded by tables. The place

is spotlessly clean.

But, it's hard to really enjoy the place unless you're with a date. It's simply that kind of place. But the Showboat certaily lends a touch of class to Charlott—

In conclusion we highly recommend the Windmill for its prices, its food, and its delightful and unforced Island atmosphere and intend to go back soon ourselves.
