ness had been conducted nomin- ations were called for candidates to represent the district in the forthcoming provincial election. Both nominations were received with hearty applause.

Mr. Hugh Morrison in rising to thank the delegates ior their re- newed confidence in him to rep- resent the Conservative party at the coming election, said it would be a great honor tortpresent the present government, as they had done more for education and pub- lic works than any government since Coniederation. It was a priv- liege to work with men oi such calibre as Premier MacMillan and Hon. G. Shelton Sharp. They were untiring in their efforts to obtain all they oeuld ior the province s-nd had been successful in securing large grants from Ottawa for this province, which the Liberals had not been able to do. He commend- ed the efforts oi his colleague, Hon. Mr. Strong, who is a. consist- ent worker for his district and granted all requests wherever pos- sible regardless oi politics.

Governor DeBIois in opening his remarks congratulated and extend- ed best wishes to the nurses. Con- tinuing he stated, "We are very proud oi our hospital." But i1 it is to maintain the present high stand- ard oi usefulness it is very neces- sary that we do our part in contrib- uitinrriitlsnclally and otherwise to its support. In addressing the nurses he told them, "You will have to be prepared to make many sacrifices of personal interests ii you are to remain true to the high ideals oi’ your noble profession."

A feature oi the program was the Florence Nightingale Pledge administered to the seven graduating nurses by Rev. H. D. Raymond.

The Voledictony was exceptional- ly well delivered by Miss Mabel Burdett and was received with continued app‘ by an audience which taxed the seating capacity of the hall. The text oi the address appears below .

The meeting was presided over by Mr. W. K. Rogers, who in his re- marks at the close oi the program paid fine tribute to the work oi the Ladies Aid under the presidency oi Mrs. E. T. Higgs. The speaker stated that the maintenance oi the hospital is very largely dependent upon the work oi this organization. He announced that the annual meeting oi the Hospital would be held in St. Paul's Hall on,Tuesday, May 28.

On behalf of the Ladies Aid he thanked the people ior their splen- did attendance and St. Paul's Church for their unfailing cour- tesy in giving the use oi the hall. ‘He also extended hearty thanks to the performers who so generously made lip the program.

Mr. Rogers pointed with pride to the fact that while the hospital has now to pay interest on a. $126,- 000 bonded debt as well as an in- creased payroll amounting to near- ly $19,000, there is, this year a. sur- plus in the vicinity oi $40).
