An Electric Hen,

The business of hatching chickens by artificial means is catried on so ex- tensively that any improvement in the apparatus or methods is certain to at- tiact the attention of all poultry rais- ers, says an exchange. The latest in- vention in this line is an electric ap- paratus. It is said that in this !n- vention the temperature can be ad- ju: ted and maintained to a fraction oi ihe desired pitch. The walls of th: incubator are filled in with minere! wool. There is a hot-water tank at the top which keeps up the proper tem- perature by circulation. In these elec- tric hens, as they are called, a resist- ance box may be used to heat the water, but they are made so that either cil, gas or electricity may be used, The idea of hatching chickens by elec tricity explodes the old theory that a>: electric current add‘ed the eggs. Th’'s notion went out of fashion a long time ago, with many other things to which cur ancestors clung with the utmost tenacity. It is thought that chick: raised in electric incubators have more strength and vitality than when brought out in the ordinary way. Sev- eral poultrymen are exp?rimentinge with electric broodcers, and the results will be looked for with great interest.

Town Fall of Kelations,

It is stated as an actual fact that all the people residing in Letcher County, Kentucky, are related to one another, Girectly or indirectly. The reason o! this is found in the remarkable Webt family. There are three brothers and three sisters of the original family, all living near Sergent, and they have no fewer than 748 descendants living in the neighborhood. The oldest member of the family, Lettie, is 82 years old and has twenty children, ninety-five grard- children and fifty great-grandchildren, Polly, aged 80, has sixteen children and almost as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren as Lettie. The youngest, Wiley, has the fewest €e- scendants. He is 70 years old, and has eleven children, fifty-four grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren,
