brisk demand for all kinds of agricultural produce, especially grain, potatoes and turnips. © these, large quantities are being shipped in every direction and we understand that good markets can be found for them in the n ighbouring Colonies. On Satarday last Oxts were ic zreat demand at 23 3d per bushel; Barley sold trom 4s. to 48 6d; Potatoes from Is 3d to Is 6d ; and Turnips from Is to ls 3d. Hav brought as igh a price as 5s ewt, and not much was to he had at that pric. The Schr. Humming Bird, Shelinut, Master, f-om Labrador to Halifax, loaded with herring, on Sunday, the 7th inst., off east side of Anticosti, was struck while laying too, and hove on her beam ends. The foremast and mainmast were washed

away, and the deck ripped up from stem to stern. The men were all washed off the > chooner after righting, but they after- wards made for the wreck, of which only eight feet was above water, and succeeded in getting on.

Three hours after, Capt. Shellnut, the cooper, Mr. Hen-

neberry, the Cook, James Callahan, wire washed off the wreck and disappeared. The four surviving men continued on the wreek four days. A raft was mace, and two of the survivors on it drifted towards a lighthonse on the Island of Anticosti. Efforts were then made to reseue the other two men, but two days elapsed before it was accomplished. The men were taken from the Lighthouse br the steamer Napoleon to Gaspe, and conveyed thence to Pictou in the steamer Lady Lead. Tue men were six days on the wreck, some of them without any clothing, food, or water snow and hail falling the first and second days after the schooner was struck. ‘Their feet were very badly frozen, so much so that they are not able to walk. The men speak in the highest ter:ns of the kindness of the Captains of the steamers Napoleon and Lady Head. Captain Richard SheJnut wasa young man well and favsarably known in this city, where he resided. He leavesan aged muther and sister, with whom we deeply sympathise.— Reporter. a -

following account of an insult offered to the Prince of Wales in the streets of New York, by an English Demperat :

After the Prince of Wales aud his suite had left ihe Fifth Avenue Hotel on the 12tn, bis barouche passed but two or three bloexs down the Fifth Avenue when a stout-built fellow, | wearing a blue chirt of blouse, rushe! out of the crowd on the sidewalk, gesticulating viclently, shaking his fists and ex- claiming,“ Whoare you? I can whip you, any way ? You ‘Will never be king of Eng'and if you live a hundred years.”

Some of the spectators also declare that he threatened to shoot the Prinee, but others deny it. He advanced to with-) in a few feet of the carriage, but his further progress was) stopped by a crowd of persous who gathered around him, and at that moment a policeman ran up aod arrested the fellow. |

The Prince and his suite paid no attention to the dis-| turbance, and very possibly did not hear bis insulting and threatening language. :
