B., Elizabeth McElevee, the eight-year-old dauguter of Samuel Me- Elevee, had her left arm crushed to jeliy, by being caught and drawn ia between two revolving cylinders. She was taken to Chat- ham, where Drs. Benson and MeDonald amputated her arm at the shoulder joint there being nothing left helow the joint that could be saved. Miss Mary Exizapetn Barr, the matron of the city hospital, started, yesterday morn- ing, on a vacation of four weeks. She left Bos ton to-day for her old home in Charlotte- town, Prince Edward Island, where she will remain during her absenee from Concord. Miss Barr's steady attention to duty for two years has demanded a rest, and this she pro- poses to have absolutely. She has provided a substitute in her position, a lady of exper: ience and a personal friend, to whom she ean confidently leave the care of the hospital, without fear or anxious thought, till she re- turns.
