It is notable,too,that the export of horses | from Montreal to Great Britain from the beginning of navigation to the end of October reached the total 5,095. For the fiscal year 189%, the shipments from all Canada to the old country were only 1,946; in 1892 they were but 1,396, while in 1890 they were only 125. That a large market for Canadian horse flesh could be found in the United Kingdom has long been held as a theory; the experience of the present year promises to establish it as a fact.

The farmers are about through with their fall’s work, and the tax question is the daily conversation, Mr. Gallant says that the Grits are like the potato bugs— they are moving east, and we will soon know nothing of them in Rustico. The tax had the same effect as poison for the Government —their supporters are all kill- ed off.
Our genial merchant, M. McLeod, is kept quite busy. He reports a large fall trade in eggs. It seems his clerk in an unusual rush strack against and upset a large table loaded with eggs--about sixty dozen were broken. Egg-nog wa3 the or- der of the day.
Mr. Andrews, our obliging smith, has added a wing to bis shop—a good sign of the times.
