Cror Paosrects.—According to a Toronto despatch, reports received by grain merchants from «all parts of the Dominion give promise of » good harvest in every part of Can- eda. In some provinces the yield will not be as large as anticipated, while in others it is beyond expectations. On ths whole, the crops will be be large in quantity and of a more satisfactory quality than those of last year.

OppreLLowsutr.—On June 30th last there were 51 lodges and 3.790 members of the American Order of Oddfellows in the maritime provinces, a net increase for the year of 520 Prince Edward Island has 3 lodges and 298 members. New Brunswick has i1 lodges and 949 members, and Nova Seotia 37 lodges aad 2,633 members. Of the 795 initiated during the year Nova Scotixs contributed 704, of which latter number Halifax contributed 201.

Fine 1x Woxtreat —We regret to hear that the Metropolitan rolling mil'a at Mont- rel, owned by William Abbott, Esq., were destroyed by fire on Wednesday evening last, throwing about one hundred and fifty men out of employment. The loss is as yet unknown, but it mut be in the neighborhood of $250,- 000. The property was insured, but to what extent is not known. Mr. Abbott was absent from home at the tim, being with bia fither, the premier, at Restig suche Mrs. Abbott, who is a daughter of the late Hon. Col. Grey, is at present visiting her sis'er, Mrs. A. Lord, Brighton.

Hoxse Notes —In the race meeting on the Riding Grounds, Halifax, on the 24th, the free-for-all trot was won in straight he>ta by A. L. Slipp’s Eddie Wilkes; best time, 2 303 Minnie Grey took second money, and Lerael third. The other starters were Gladstone and Stranger. The race was for a purse ot $250, divided.
