Figures indicating a good safe driving record for R.C.A.F. Stat- ion Summerside during 1955 were realeased last week. The statis- tics disclose the accident rate for the stations ”' equipment sec- tion, which control: the movement of all R.C.A.F. vehicles in the Summerslde area. From April 1955 to April 1056 the section -logged 300.D') driving miles and exper- ienced only flve ” i mostly of a mlnorqature. A record there- fore of one accident for every 60,000 miles driven.

The Mobile Equipment section operates thirty-two ordinary veh- icles. in addition to heavy equip- ment such as snow ploughs an bulldozers. The section employs forty seven drivers. twenty-six of whom are civilians residing in the Summerslde area.

The duties of the section in- clude a variety of transport dut- lea. such as personnel and equip- ment movements. ambulance ser- vice, refuelling of aircraft. grad- ing and repair of roads and park- ing-lots. snow removal from fire lanes. roads and runways and the maintenance and repair of all eq- ulpment.
