Nova Scotia Elections. Hartrax, May 22 Later returns of the election show that C. H. Cahan (oppe sition) has defeated Me- Coy in Shelbourne by eight votes, and is only 11 behind Hon. Thomas Jol member of the Government. Both Law- rence and Clarke, Government caudidates, are elected in Colchester by majorities of less than fifty. Both Government men are elected in Inverness. The latest reports irom Hants claim the election of Dr. Haley (Govt) by one majority over McDougall (Opp).

A Disastrous Storm. BERLIN, May 22. The village of St. Maplen, near Hildes- heim, was recently visited by a severe hail- storm, which did a great deal of damage. To-day the people gathered in the church to pray fora cessation of the storm, and while the services were ia progress, a tihunde rscorm game up. The church was struck by lightning.
