What needs to be emphasized is that these services are dire ectly responsible for the students, not intinfidating them! In reality we students are the enployers of these in— dividuals, therefore, they are merely servants of our insti— tution. Under any other busin- ess circumstances these indi— viduals would not hold their positions for any period of time.

The Registrars Office, the Business Office, and the Stud— ent Services (Resident Manage- ment) tendtoshowahighrate of impotence. In the next few weeks 'I plan to disclose many detailed, unpleasant,occurances that students at UPEI have ex- perienced. This is getting , - worse and we the students must ' ACT NOWS

What SPEAK EASY Has Done for Me,

Speak Easy should be a compulsory course when attending the University of Prince Edward Island. Everyone needs some help when it comes to speaking in public. The majority of students who attend U.P.E.I. are purposely avoiding subjects which require a seminar presentation.

They encounter a feeling of nervousness and fear that they would make a fool of them- selves in front of their peer group.

People often judge others by the way they express them— selves such as, eye contact, gestures, posture, and your voice inflection. They are more concerned by the way you look on the outside rather than what you have to say. Imagine what it would be like to be perfect.in all of these ¢Oetegories and theh the adaiefiEe"" -would concentrate on what you “ have to say. When you have completed your speech you often hear people say, "Did you see what she had on"? "I felt like tieing her hands behind her back," or "What was she talking about anyway"? You realize that your speech was boring or you were not able to attract their attention.

In order to involve oneself in today's society one has to be able to make others understand their point of View. Concerning all of the careers that are offered in today's society, one has- to be confident that their material and the way they are going to present it will\con- vince others that there is no other possible answer. Many students need a course to help themselves improve their

Before a person can improve the way they express themselves they first have to realize that they have a problem and find . help. Once that person realizes their problem, they have to be willing to continue, no matter what is asked of them. Over a period of time that person will benefit.

Speak Easy is the answer which helps students develop confidence, skills and fun over a six week period. Students are given the chance to do something about their problem right here on campus. The program is not as easy as one might think at first, but eventually becomes re- warding.
