Council 1039 Split

The Student Council shall be divided into two sub- councils, each with their own specific responsibili- ties. ‘

A) The Business Council will work directly under the authority of the Treasurer- Comptroller and under the supervision of the Chairman.

The responsibility of the Business Council shall be to pass motions dealing with the financial and physical resources of the U.P.E.I.S.U. In addition, it is to hold responsibility for the aff- airs of the Personnel Board and the Campus Police. It is_

also responsible for the spo—'

nsorship and nature of soci— al events of the U.P.E.I.S.U.

B) The Academic Council will work directly under the authority’of the Vice—Presi— dent-Communications Officer and under the supervision of the Chairman.

The responsibility of the Acadmeic Council shall be to provide direction for the Student Union in all matters of policy. They shall also be responsible for all com—~ mittees dealing with academ— . ic matters.

.A position'on eitheerOu- ncil requires a willingness to work primarily with that Council's area of responsi—. bility. This shall be made explicit at the time of al- ection.

\ The duties of the Presi— dent shall be to: sit on Senate;

be the chief execu— tive and spokesman of the. Union; ’

call all meetings of the Union; I

prepare agendas 24 hours prior to Council meet- ings; ' '

call Executive me- etings prior to Council me- etings;

carry out resolut- ions of Council when appli- cable;

issue a statement of direction within 14 days of election; '

be in charge of ad— ministering all activities of the U.P.E.I.S.U;

perform other duties as required.-
