There seems to be an appalling amount of in— difference towards this year's Campus Cabaret. Jennifer 'IWeddle, organizer and chairperson of Campus ‘ cabaret '79 expresses . doubt about whether or not this year's Variety Show will go on stage at all. There are approximately ten acts lined up for ' Cabaret '79 and the show cannot possibly go on unless eight or ten new acts are found between new and February 11th. If there are not 18 to 20 acts sdieduled for Cabaret night then the show will have to be cancelled. Presently we have a

Student: Should Oppose Cutbucks

cutbadcs in university funding, forcing the university to cut spending and increase tuitim. Although no funding agreement has yet been made by Premier Campbell, there is no reason to be- lieve that this year's increase will ever meet the rise in the cost of living.

If we are cmcerned about the way the provincial government has been forcing us to pay through the nose for an education, it is time no» to start making our cmcern kncvm, If we do nothing, then the situat- im will get worse, and caning to UPEI will cmtinue to becate more and. more expensive.

'Ihe Student Union will oppose government fLmding cutbacks, but the effect- iveness of any such action will be determined by how much support we get from UPEI students. When talking to government, we represent you, so the Only way we can express concern is if you are ccncerned. If you are, show it. A meeting will be held after Winter Camival to hear your cpinicns and to determine what type of action we, as students, should take, if any.
