Midnight Mass was celebrated at St. Anthony's by Rev. M. J. Rooney. The Mass of "St. Ther- esa" was sung by the mixed choir. under the direction of Mr. Albert Noonan, and organist Mr. Cyrus Gallant. '

Despite the bad side roads and poor visibility. a large number of the congregation at.tcnded,Masa at St. Anthony's. There were Iiso many visitors from outside pariah- cs. The church was beautiful with the new electric lights on, a neces- sity that. the congregation are very proud of.

The death of Elia Frances Brown. wife of the late George D. Brown. occurred at her home in St. Eleanors on Tuesday, De- cember 23. 1952, at the age of 82.

Mrs. Brown was born in Sum- merside, the youngest daughter of

the late Captain and Mrs. Charles Peters. She was a faithful and esteemed menib of at. John'

The funeral of the late George Barnett took place from his home to Trinity United Church. Alma. on December 30th. Rev. Mr. Mac- Mahon of Alberton conducted the service. The pallbearers were Messrs. James O'Brien, Ray Rix. A. D. O'Brien. Charles Dunn, George Hardy, and Parmenus Brennan. Much sympathy is lie- lng extended to the bereaved wid- ow and family.

The closing of Alma School took place on December 17th in the school house. A very nice pro- gram was presented by the pupils. Mr. Isaac Dunbar acted as chair- man and the teacher. Mrs. Ken- neth Cl-ockett. was organist. At the close of the program Santa Claus arrived and distributed gifts to pupils and teacher. A very large crowd attended and each child also received a treat from Santa. Everyone went home satis- fied with the evening's entertain- ment and the promise from some he would be back again next year.

The hockey season got; under- way at the 0'Leary Rink on Saturday night with an exhibi- tion game between the 0'Leary Maroons and the Summerside High School team, the visitors winning by a score of 5-3. De- spite soft ice and lack of practice it was an excellent game and drew a very good-attendance.

December 27th. a program which was pre- pared by the children of the Sun- day School was cancelled due to an epidemic of measles in the Community. Rev. C. O. Howletz. minister of the church. brought it message to the congregation. Christ- mas hymns were used. with Mrs. George Ellis as organist.

Colorful Pageant By Consolidated - School Pupils

A very beautiful and colorful "Pageant of Christmas" was pre- sented by the pupils of Tryon Con- solidated School this year in place' of the usual variety type of enter- tainment. The pageant was pre- sented in the Tryon Baptist Haiti. The teachers, Mr. Gerald Mcquaid. and Miss Florrie Mabey. ore to be congratulated on their choice of programme, and on the presenta- tion of it. The stage was trimmed with Christmas greens to make a fitting background for tholmany colored costumes. and as the differ- ent groups of children took their places on the stage, it formed a picture long to be remembered. Mrs. Vivian Bartlett played the piano accompaniment to the pageant, contributing much to its success.. The hall was beautifully decor- ated with streamers. wreaths. and greens. In one comer. a lighted Christmas tree reached almost to the ceiling.

Mr. Roy Dawson. secretary to the Board of Ti-ustees. was the chair- man of the evening.
