A CABLEGKAM from London reports that the brigt. Zerelde, Capt. Kickham, from Fernaa- dina to Demerara with a cargoof pitch pine, became waterlogged and was abandoned at sea. The crew were saved. The Zerelde was owned by Peake Brus., and was built at Mt. Stewart four or tive years ago. The ship was partly insured.

‘A Verdict of Murder.

To Suppress the League. CAPTAIN HAMILTON = CONVICTED, Seiden Lonpon, Oct. 12. During the proceedings to-day at the

inquest in the Mitchellstown shoot- ing case, attention was drawn to the fact that the policemen charged with the shoot-

ing had been removed from the district on the eve of the jury's verdict. The police inspector said that the men had

been removed because their duties in the place had ceased, but they would return if necessary. | The coroner declared that the removal of the police was illegal, improper and in- consistent.

After all the evidence had been submit- ted, Mr. Harrington, who appeared against the men charged with the shvoting, asked that a verdict of wilful murder be returned against head constable Brownrigg and five policemen who fired under his general or- ders.

Mr. Harrington accused Constable Brownrigg of deliberately planning murder.

The jury returned a verdict of murder against Inspector Brownrigg, Sergeants Kirwan, Ryder and Brennan.

The coroner has issued warrants for the arrest of the men found guilty.

Tae Daily News Dublin correspondes t telegraphs that he has received informatiou from an influential quarter that the Government will within a fertnight totally suppress the League. The Nationalists, he says, are prepared for any such emergency.

The inquest in the case of John Kinsella, the old man shot and killed by emergency men «nm the estate of Mr. Brooke, at Cuoolgreany County, Wexford, September 28, resulted in a verdict of murder against Capt. Hamilton.

A Murderer Confesses.

Dexter, Me., Oct. 12.

Nine years ago the bank here was rob- bed and Cishier Barren was found dead, bound and gagged in the vault. The affair created a great sensation, and it was gen- erally believed since that Barron robbed the bank and committed suicide. To-day David L. Stair was arrested at Franklyn, Mass., fur his murder. His son has eon- fessed and told how a gang, led by his father, planned and executed the rubbery, avd murdered Barron.

What Sir Cha-les Will Do.

Monrrea, Oct. 12.

Sir Charles Tupper passed through the city to-day on his wayto Ottawa. He said his intention is to stand again for the seat. He was, however, in the hands of the Prime Minister, and it was impossible to definitely say what he would do.

Officially Contradicted.

Lonpon, Oct, 12. The Russian Government officially con- tradicts the report that the Grand Duke Nicholas in a recent speech declared that under certain circumstances he and other Rassians would join the French army.
