Death Of ‘Mrs. Jane l/Vrfilliams '

The death oi Mrs. Jane Williams, widow of the late Benjamin Wil- liams, occurred suddenly Friday ev- ening at her home, 229 Sydney Street. Mrs. Williams, who was born in New Glasgow, P. E. I. had reach- ed the advanced age of 90 years. About six weeks ago she sustained a broken hip as the result oi an ac- cident but was doing well and ex- pected to be around again as "usual in a short time. Friday, however, she took a sudden turn for the worse and the end came very suddenly. De- spite her years the late Mrs. Wil- llams never lost- her mental alert- ness, and always kept abreast of the times. A womanof estimable Chris- tian character, he" hospitality was known by all with whom she came in contact, as evidenced by a. host of friends. she was an active and devoted member oi the Church oi Christ.

She leaves to mourn one son, Mr. J. H. Williams of the Maritime El- ectric Company and one daughter Miss Agnes Williams of this city; a1- so two brothers, Messrs Charles Dlckieson and Arthur Dlckieson of New Glasgow, P. a. 1.

The funeral was held yesterday at 2 o'clock from her late residence to Sherwood Cemetery, which was reach ed by special train. services at the house and at the grave were con- ducted by Mr. W. L. Outhouse, pas- tor of the Central Christian Church

MONCTON, April 12.-Wlth hap- py smiling faces a party of twenty- seven comely Acadlan maidens dress- ed in the quaint garbs of the days of Evangeline and headed by Hon. A. T. LeBlanc; Judge oi the Supreme Court of New Brunswick, left here today via the Canadian National Railways for Louisiana, where they will be present at the unveiling of a statue to the immortal heroine of Longfellows poem at St. Martinvllle, La., where Evangeline lies buried. Last summer on the occasion oi the 17th anniversary of the exile of the Acadians a. delegation representing the descendants of these who found their way to Louisiana where they headed by Hon. Dudley T. LeBlanc, Public Commissioner for Louisiana attended the ceremonies held at Grand Pre, Nova Scotia, and as a result a return visit oi their kin from the land oi Acadia was organ- lzed. 1's marked contrast was the ‘Jour- nry undertaken today from that which their forebears were compel- led to make iollowing the forcible removal of the Acadlans in 1755. Then armed soldiers marched them to the ships where they were em- barked, some going to Massachusetts and other finding their way to the Bayellx country of Lousiana, where they settled. Today a happy con- tented people gathered around the representatives of their race as they left to carry a message of greetings to their lsndred in the south, while the Acadian band played "God Save the King." as the train rolled smoothly out of lhc station.

Harness Horses And Late Model Au to mo- biles Viewed In Street Procession Saturday.

A shower of rain did not mar the effectiveness oi Saturday's parade of race horses and automobiles. al-- though it detracted from the size of the procession. At 2.30 p. m. the 27; horses on parade moved off from the lower end of Queen Street, and were followed slowly by_ about 25' new model cars. A much larger num-i ber of both horses and cars would‘ have appeared had the weather man been kind.

The route of march was up Queen to Euston; up Euston to Great George; up Great George to Graf- ton; down Grafton to Prince; Prince to Richmond. down Richmond to Queen; up Queen to Grafton thence Grafton to Great George, thence to‘ Kent Street; clown Kent to Pownal; down Pownal to Water, where the parade dispersed.

When the parade, advancing up Queen Street reached the intersec- tion with Richmond, Mr. J. A. Mc- Donald, announcer for the Victoria Driving Club, announced the name of each horse, and gave noteworthy details.
