A MISSIONARY TO THE PRO- PRIETORS.

Ir will be seen on reference to the Pas- senger list, that that distinguished cha- racter, the Rat-Catcher, William Douse, Esq., as taken another trip to England. His jou rney will not be, however, on this © xcasion, solely at the expense of the Sel- kirk Estate, for it is generally acknow- ledged even by his friends, that he, has been feed by the Obstructives, and must be fed at thetr'cost, to move the Jand pro- prietors in England to employ their stu- pendous infleence with Her Majesty’s Ministers te get a forfeiture of their pro- mise in respect to the concession of Re- sponsible Government, so that the people may be kept for a while longer in slavery te the Cempact. It must be admitted that the case of the Faction is a desperate enue, when they are constrained to solicit the services of such an individual as Mr. Douse on such a Mission. They are evidently determined to die hard, but their despair is more manifest in this Mission than in any other of their recent proceedings. The foocls!—had they waited a few days longer till they receiv- ed the now published solemn pledges of the Ministry, they would have saved themselves from much useless expense— from utter disgrace in this Colony, and vnautterable contempt in Britain. When Mr. Douse will reach England he will have more reason to cry out in the terms of his hacknied vulgarity, that his inter- position “will end in smoke,” than ever he had on any former occasion in reter- ence to any other subject.

DIED.

A Little York, on Thursday morning, the Ist inst., of rheumatic fever, after a short illness, in the bloom of Jife, Henry Brady Johnston, Esq., M. D.,°of Louth, Lincolnshire, England, aged 25 years. The deceased gentleman arrived in this Jeland, via New York, buta few weeks since, for the purpose of settling among us. Ife was a member and a local preach er of the Wesleyan Church.

Suddenly on the 30th ult., at the Bar- racks in Charlottetown, Private Patrick Al’Guire, 38th Regt. aged 28 years.

At New London. on the 19th ult., Mrs. Jane M’Kie, aged 67 years.

At Si. Eleanor's, on the 30th ult., Mr Alfred Compton, aged 36 years.
