A Letter from one of your Arts Reps

Hello everyone. I would like o take this opportunity to intro- uce myself — I am Laura Kilfoil, ne of your four Arts Representa- ives on the Student Union Coun- il. Your other Arts Representa- ives are Daryll Cole, Hans Con- or, and Jennifer Bartlett. The student Union Council meetings ave been very informative and productive. To give a feel for hat is coming up this year here re a few of the goals;

1) Raising the spirit of the tudents;

2) Raising the awareness of U activities;

3) Student Union work;

4) A university centre;

5) Student Union speakers ampaign.

These are just a small amount f what we hope to accomplish.

This letter is to inform you of my commitment and enthusiasm for this year. I am available at all times through the receptionist at the Barn or at the Mini-Centre in the Pit on Tuesdays 11:30 — 1:00. Your input on all issues (such as student carrels, condom dispens- ing machines, wet-dry pubs) is needed in order for me to rep- resent you as Arts Rep. I also hope to join the many Arts clubs (ie. Club Politique, Modern Lan- guages, etc.) to keep in touch

with what is happening in the Arts faculty.

Please contact me with any questions or concerns that you have. I need and welcome all opinions concerning our year here at UPEI.

UPEI’s National Student Day

The UPEI Student Union/CFS Com- mittee would like to comment the spirit and actions of student at UPEI, and those other students nationwide. The Oct. 19th Na- tional Student Day was one spe- cial celebration and we hope all participants enjoyed the day. We also hope that the positive feel- ings of your individual self recog- nition as well as appreciation of fellow students remain through- out this year and years to come.

In an ongoing attempt to pro- vide information on the good

work of yourselves, and other stu- dents we are please to inform you of the cooperative attempt of your committee, the Faculty of Arts Scholarships Committee, and the UPEI Information Office to publicize important achieve- ments like in the area of graduate scholarships of recent UPEI grad- uates.

Look forward to these pro- motions, and then consider your- selves as possible winners in award money and deserved recog- nition. Bravo students!
