Street Lights.

The streets were in utter darkness last night up to seven o'clock ; and citizens going to church had to grope their way #long the icy streets under great difficulty. This is not the first time the Light Co. have neglected to turn hekt at the proper time.

The City Council should appoint some one to see that the lights are turned on regularly at dark every night and the con- tract regularly carried out.

More Ist.anp Horses.—The St. Johu Sun siys: A car load of horses reached this city yesterday from Charlottetown, which will be forwarded to Golden, British Columbia. These horses which were purchased by W. Db. McKay, of the Charlottetown woolen mills, who has an interestina big ranch at Gollen, were selested by W. S. McKie, the weil-known horse dealer, and are a fine lot. ‘There are fifteen breod mares and a Percheron stallion, Judge, sired by Duroc, the stallion which attracted so much attention at the St. John exhibition last fall. Judge is three years old and weighs 1750 pounds. He is said by competent men to be a very fine horse,
