Britannia sailed into a bright sunset Thursday night as one neared the rugged cliffs of the Gaspe peninsula. Later. under clear night skies. the Queen could see the twinkling lights of coastal villages.

Even the Britannia and her sleek escorts, Assinibolne, Nip!- St. Laurent and Yukon, bow to the rules of the sea. When a tiny Gaspe fishing vessel approached on an inter- secting course. the royal forma- ' veered and yielded the right of way as the fishermen scrambled into the rigging for a better look at the polished royal convory.

The waters were not strange for the Queen, who is due in Q City Saturday morning. She made a stop at Gaspe five years ago to review most of the Canadian Navy's Atlantic fleet.
