That it is the opinion of this meeting, that the Executive authorities of this Island have rendered themselves liable to severe unirnadversion by engaging and continuing the services of the Stea- mer l"siry Queen to carry the mails and passengers, between Charlottetown and the adjoining Provinces, when it was notorious that the imperfect condition of the Hull and equipments ofthat vessel would imperil the lives oftha seengers and the safety of the mails in crossing the ull' ofSuint Lawrence in tempestuous weather.

The Editor of Whelans Gazette, with an un- governable miilignity, has charged the Islander and Hazard’: Gazette with a descreditable attempt to implicate the government. have, as yet, it is well known, ‘wen buts feeble expression, of the ublio opinion in re- gard to this and accident. We have plenty to say on the sub‘ ct as soon as the facts can he obtained, until] then, we will publish the opinions of the Nova Scotia press, onl , which in all shades of litics in no measure shewa the cul ilit of the owner, a nt, and employers o the il fated vessel. tmay be very well for e Government to try and make it appear that their opponents are pressing them too hard on this subject, but the facts are too plain, and their conduct has been too gross to admit of any palliative.
