Medical assist- ance was obtained and it is expected the mother may yet survive her serious wounds.

Po.ice Court —This morning,one drunk was fined $3 or 14 days, and a young man charged with corner loafing and disorderly conduct was fined 50 ceuts and costs. The defendant in one assault case was fined $1 without costs, and in another case the sum- mons was dismissed, the complainant de- clining to prosecute.

A few are reported to be still trying for fish along some parts of the Nova Scotia coast. No mackerel have been caught within the last few days alung the Island coast.
