Christmas Day and Boxing Day for 1957 have come and gone again. For game time hund- reds of people had swarmed into the stores for shopping purposes. They came in family groups and in twos and threes from all over the province to the various cen- ters.

Finally the shopping expeditions and the home preparations were completed and the wonderful day at last arrived, nhe day in which to attend church and to enjoy so many lovely customs. Not the least of these had been the send- ing and receiving of Christmas cards. This custom of more re- cent ‘years seems to be steadily growling. While the carrying out of the Christmas card tradition gives many a brisk day. yet when the time comes to look over the cards how pleasant it all is.

The hospitality and graciousness of Government House, Prince Ed- Iward Island, is traditional. Dur- ing the past year the Lieutenant- Governor and Mrs. Hyndman en- tertained many guests at Govern- ment House. The beautiful old Georgian mansion is always ad- mired and also the lovely gar-

The Governor and Mrs. Hynd- man‘s card has the further added interest in that these busy fam- ily and official people found the time not only to send cards but in many cases to add a short personal note.

Such an attractive card is the one chosen by the Premier and his wife. Christmas Greetings are conveyed by nine evergreen trees decorated in gold tinsel and gold balls. 'Ilhe message is signed, Happy Wishes. for Christmas and' the New Year and is signed Alex-‘ ander W. Ma-theson and Mrs. Matheson.
