John is an old e'fender, and passes the great- est part of his life im jail forlarceny. He is but 15 years of age.

Wattace Ross has made an exhibition of himself before the Bostonians. On Tuesday he failed to hear the word to start in his pro- jected race with Frenchy Johnson, and to put the climax on the matter, he afterwards took part in a free tight with the negro. Boat- racing, viewed from the Ross standpoint, is certainly not a very enobling spert. Ross was always known as a lubber; he has now proved himself a rowdy.
