Friedman says he has also talked to New Mexico residents who first discov- ered the debris. He told of the metal they found that could be folded to a tiny cube, and when released would take its original shape.

In 1994 the Air Force released a

report titled Roswell Report: Case Closed which explained the "alien claims" once. and for all.

"*Aliens' observed in the New Mexico desert were actually anthropomor- phic test dummies that were carried aloft by Air Force high altitude balloons for sci- entific research," said the executive report.

Friedman explained, sarcastically, that these witnesses simply mistook six- foot tall plastic, human looking test dum- mies for four-foot tall aliens.

According to Friedman, the dum- mies were dropped no earlier than 1953, six years after the Roswell sightings.

The report also explained

"Reports of military units that

always seemed to arrive shortly after the crash of a flying saucer to retrieve the

saucer and ‘crew,' were actually accurate descriptions of Air Force personnel engaged in anthropomorphic dummy recovery operations," the Air Force claims.

"There's a lot of garbage out there to go with the good stuff," added Friedman.

Most UFO sightings, Friedman said, are made by groups of people in the daytime. He also says many are made by pilots and law enforcement officers. He wants to dispel the idea that "only crazy people" believe in UFOs.

Friedman ended his lecture by asking how many people in the audience have seen a UFO - 26 raised their hands.

"So why isn't this the story of the millennium?" he asked the crowd.

"Flying saucers finish the job Copernicus started by taking man out of the middle of the universe," Friedman explained. " Priests fought Copernicus's ideas. Today guys in lab coats, rather than priestly robes, fight alien visitation."
