MELANCHOLY ACCIDENT.—On Saturday night, | the 10th inat., about 7 o'clock, Mr. Bernard Me-| Tague, of Montague, Lot 57, was returning, on | toot, fromm his daughter's house, and when within | three quarters ofaanle from his own house, he was overtaken by a person wawed Dougherty, | who had a horse and gig. This wan kindly asked | MeTague to take a litt; the old wan agreed and | get in. Dougherty drove along cautiously, till | coming te a bad place in the read, opposite P. O'Connell's, where the horse shied. Dougherty suddenly struck him. which caused hin to jump | and rear. The seat of the gig gave away, and poor MeTague was throwh violently on the hard road. He was stunned for some tine, but be came better, avd was carried howe. He retained the use of bis senses and bis speech until about! 5 o'clock oy Tuesday morning, when he died.
