The Playground

For the majority o! Charlotte- town citizens, Old Home Week was the main ,event tn the siiiri- mei-‘s entertainment. and slthmlflh the kiddies had s. good time at. the Fair, 1t was not. made espec- lally for them. and it ls doubtful whether all the thrills o! Fair Week could come even close to the joys of participating in thetr own pet show held on Friday xught and the swimming Meet. whlcli took place Tuesday afternoon. The summawies of both evenui have been published previously, so will suffice to mention at. this time that both exceeded all e. pectatlons, antfthat a whale of n time waa bad by all.

On Thursday a small group of boys were taken on .a picnic to Rocky Point. the free transportat- ion b_v boat. beng provided througr the courtesy of the Department of Public Works. Many of the boys liad the opportunity of going row- lng for the first time. and 1f you think that. wasn't much fun, just

ging clams and roasting them, but. those boys added that to their diary of the day also. Tired but happy, and praying that. time would permit another such OKXVJ-Z. the boys struck out for home fr. time to catch the 4 o'clock ferry O O O

The playgrounds for most young- sters are a fine thing. and they really appreciate the benefits which they receive from them, bur. there are a num-ber of children ln tlils town. mainly around King Square, for whom the playgrounds nrs just. a waste of predous money and a breeder pf laziness.
