Mecaanicat Drawine.—To meet a want felt by young Engineers, Mr. James Brown, C. E.. intends—should he find a sufficient number of punils—to open a class for instruc- tion on this sabject. The instruction given will be thoroughly practical, accompanied by simple rules and formule, which will enable the pupil to master the subject.

A quantity of printed correspondence signed by Professor Henry Y. Hind, of Windsor, N. S., professes to expose certain alleged frauds in the compilation of the statistics concerning the fisheries of Cana‘a submitted to the Halli- fax Commission. Hind accuses Forde and Berne of ‘having manipu!ated the figures so as to make the Canadian case appear stronger than it really was.

Zion Cuurca Covxcert.—The Concert in the basement of Zion Church last night passed off very pleasantly. The room was filled with as large an andience as it would hold. The singing by the children was very well per- formed. We are gla to see that the cualtiva- tion of music is gradually spreading among the population of Charlottetown; and, judging from the performance last night and a similar one held about a month ago in the basement of the Methodist Church, we feel certain that ina year ortwo we may have in Charlotte- town one of the bes: musical societies in the Lower Provinces. \Ve hope that the Philhar- monic Society, now under way, will be able to hold out fer a year or so, until it can be re- inforced by the sweet voices of the children whom we had the pleasure of hearing last night. ‘The performance was very well raried by songs, recitations and instrumental duets, by elder members of the congregration. Con- certs seem to be the most popular mode of amusement this winter; and we hope that they may continue to be so.

New Araytet Division, No. 119—.Last evening, the 5th inst., a public temperance meeting was held in the Schoolroom at New Argyle, West River. The meeting was ably addressed by W. \V. Beer, G. W. P., J. C. McKenzie, Esq., and others. At the close an application for a charter to openanew Di- vision of the Order of the Sons of Temper- ance was signed by twenty one residents. The G. W. P. having favorably received the ap- plication, a new Division, called New Argyle, No. 119, was thereupon constituted accord- ing to established form. The officers are:— W. P., James McKinnon; W.
