On examin- ation the Doctor found it neces- sary ‘to amputate a part of his three first fingers. m‘. Bruce returned home from the hos- pital on Wednesday and his many friends here and else- where will be pleased to know h.- can still manipulate his own car.

His many friends in town and country are welcoming Mr. Layton Jones back from an. extended trip to the western coast where he vis- ited his son Allen. and brother Anson. who might be termed suc- cessful Islanders abroad. While in Vancouver he also visited other former Islanders. Despite the beautiful days and balmy winds of B. C., Mr. Jones must have felt like Sir Walter Scott when he wrote these memorable lines: "Breathes there a man with soul so dead, who never to himself hath said. ‘This ls my own. m native land’i" .

A large crowd saw the slides put cn in the hall here last week by Mr. Maclnnls of the National Film Board. A number of very Interest- ing and educational pictures were shown including "'I‘he Wild Life of Canada". One was left to won- der at the understanding and in- telligence of the snimsi kingdom. while not s doubt remained that the male species is the veiner of sex.
