A GaLe of wind blew from the south-east on Wednesday for fourcr five hours. It was followed by another from the same direction on Thursday at9 oclock. Veering to the south-west and thento the west it blew a regular harricane, which lasted until to-day at noon, when it commenced to moderate. It was accompanied by a cold snap. The ther- mometer last night registered six below zero, and this morning at 8 o’clock it fell to nine and one half. It has become more moderate. But the prob bilities are that the temperature will be lower. The river here is bordered with ice to the channel. Summerside and Shediac harbors are closed, aud shippers who have vessels in Charlotte- town harbor are in dread of its early close.
