Q. How can I prevent the strings of a tennis racket from breaking when the racket is not being used?

A. Tennis racket strings should be covered with Vaseline before putting away for the winter. This

then drain again. and rinse well. Now wipe them dry again and cover_ with boiling water in which

stand for 8 hours. then drain and rinse thoroughly in clear, cold water.

Mix the sugar. vinegar, spices and horseradish root and bring t the boiling point, Add the cucum- bers and simmer for 10 minutes, then pack into hot. sterile jars, filling them to overflowing with the scalding vinegar and seal.

This makes a gherkin that isnot very sweet. If you like them sweet- _ cried, increase the amount of sugar -used to one pound for each quart of vinegar.
