Record Prices

Paying prices to producers for both eggs and poultry have been the highest for some years. The product is in short supply and is in demand. It is a sellers' market. There is a stroml P05-Slllllli-5' that hcfore the year is out we will again be in a buyers market or. in other words. there will be ogss surplus to consumptive require- ments. Buyers will again be able to choose the pack of eggs desired. When this happens, it ls feared the pack of eggs generally put up in this Province is going to be second choice and the industry will suf- fer.

The choim markets within the Atlantic Provinces are being served by operators of grading stations who receive their eggs from pro- ducers who regularly feed to pro- duce a quality product and oper- ators of grading stations grading and packing the product strictly to the required standards. There are loo many producers demand- ing a grade higher for their pro- duct than it warrants and at the same time. there are too many grading station operators grading with an eye to pleasing custome ..

He stated that Mr. Lanciry was suing into the pig business on n large scale later on and wanted the same type of swine that had been developed here. Later he will distribute the stock among New Brunswick farmers.

Mr. Farmer stated that Mr. Landry was very pleased with what be selected. Mr. Farmer said that he himself was very much satisfied with what he saw and stated that Island swine are an entirely different type from what commercial breeders sell in the Northern area of New Brunswick. U-

CITY POLICE COURT H Al the stipandlary Magistrate's Court yesterday. four men charged with being drunk and incapable. Two were sentenced to 20 days in jail each. one fined 35 and costs or five days and the othcr sentenced to 10 days in jail. The senior and more ex- perlenced boys quickly showed the less experienced lads how to be comfortable and enjoy camping even under adverse conditions. Blankets and kits were neatly stowed in the tents for inspection which was won, for the second time. by the Lone Scout Patrol under P. E. Arthur csuty of the Seventh Ch'town Troop.

Alter inspection. three Patrols received instruction in Lashing and splicing by Assistant Provin- cial Commissioner, Mr A. P. Cer- etti. The remaining three Patrols were instructed in Lashing by their Patrol Leaders under the supervision of camp chief Mr. F. A. Drisooll.

After dinner and rest period, all Patrols went in scarcvi of timber for Friday's bridge building and pioneering. The rain ceased and timber was easily procured. A swim period followed.

The evening's progrhmme in- cluded canteen. a soft ball game and one of the best Council fires to date with all Patrols presenting short skits.

Hot chocolate. and an evening devotional period wound up the activities at Camp Buclian for the day. Friday began with wet weath- er inspection but. the rain soon cleared and la programme of plan- ccrlng, starting I. monkey bridge and safety boom over the swim- ming hole was got well under way.

Also in the afternoon there was a general test-passing period and soccer and softball filled in the early evening. The day closed with the customary Council Fire and devotional period.

Fish and Game Meeting Held Al Pownal -

A special meeting of the Queen's

County Fish and Game Protection Association was .held last night at Pownal. The president. Mr. Har- ald Shaw. presided. The minutes of the previous meeting were read by the secret- ary. Mr. Frank MacKenr.le. and approved as read. it was moved that the closing date of the crow shoot sponsored by the Queen's County Fish and Game should be made to coincide with the final date, August 15th. for the paying of the crow bounty.

Hon. Eugene Cullen pointed out that the placing of dams called for considerable gurvey as a good rock bed and rock strata were neces- sary to hold the dam so that the water could not erode the clay at the sides. He felt that at such locations dams were practical. and of considerable aid in developing fish ponds and streams. He furth- er pointed out that any pond or atream which had been developed by the governmental department was open to public fishing.

The question of "enclosed prop- erty" took up the remainder of the evening with a very heated discussion.

A "priv.-ite fishing property" was one which the minor Ill-l-i developed. built a dam, and stocked. all at his own expense. Under this condition such pro- perty had the protection of the police. The owner could fish (Iii the property himself. lease ii. in in group. or permit his friends to fish there. This type of property was promoted because it. takcs off the pressure from the public angling ponds. thus giving the general public more opportunity to fish in the public angling places and also to catch more fish. .

He was a son of the isle Richard Hunt. The late Dr. mamas Henry Hunt of the faculty of the Uni. vcrsity of Kings College, Halifax. who died some years ago was a. brother. In his younger life Rev. William J. Hum was a ncmher of The Bank of Nova scolla staff in Summeraide.

Plfwen college students of the St. Thomas Aquinas Society pre- sented a two and 1. half hour varleiy entertainment at the Prince of wales College Auditor. ium last evening in (aid of their summer camp.

The students all attend differ- ent colleges on bursaries, and as they are all from this Province, hold an annual Summer camp in order that they might get to know each other. The camp is financed

by the concert tour which they arrange throughout the 151.11.; each year.

Last evening's performance was the sixth appearance in seven dayspfor this enterprising group, most of their performances being in smaller country halls.

Each of the performers lai bil- ingual, and the major part of their programme last evening was given in French. The group were at their best in their choral num- bers, given by ten male and two female students. and showed ex. ceplional blending in their simple French melodies.

Exports of pulpwood and lum- ber by rsil again show the greatest increase for June. ac- cording io the monthly report issued by the office of the Sup- erintcndent of the P.l:,l. Division. Canadian National Railways.

With only one carload of pulp- wood exported in June, 19eo,'soo carioads were shipped during June. 1951. No lumber was ex- ported for the same month last year. but last month 3 carloads left this Province. Exports of scrap iron were also up with 31 carloads during the past month against no shipments last year.
