My first car rally and all was set -— the oil, gas, fan belt, tires, brakes, etc. on the car; food for nyself and my navigator, just in case we got hungry; and paper. pencil, calculator (_a student nicely loaned us) and clipboard, all to help' us on our calculatims and to answer questions along the route.

All set to go 4- tines signed out 1114 -— away we went, 0096, we miscalcul— ated— wrong turn—off.

N1; ncwwe are on the right route -— hcwmany windows in the red shed ~on ham (:1 the right? _4_ 01 to the next no trouble. everything falls into place. -,— wait, we _ cannot find the church! ._ around and” around we go - map does not make sense -—- let's try left — oh, that is it, a mistake. The map meant left not right. All is well again — oh dear, maybe not. Find Percy Sanderscn's house. Stopped at Mr. Sanderscn's house -— 1'10, they never heard of Percy Sanderson. Well, the route makers must mean M. Sanderson -- trailer court at 2200 hours. The rest of the route fits in witha right for a left (another mistake.) Ch well, we know now there aremistakes on the (h we went baddngup -— cops.

wrong tum — another three pointer — ah, at last the last stop, the Bishops residence — where in the world is that? Thank goodness for my navigator being an Islander, she kna: where it was. Hate at last! Quidcly take the reading off the odcmeter. We made it! We ran a rally! What's this? A sttxlent police'says the rally was

cancelled at l o'clod<.

Fly? The secretary made a mistake in typing! So they écided to cancel the rally.

“What a blow out!

Here we have been on the road fran 1114 and it now was 1615 —- no notice on the radio to tell us (the cums who were still out) that the rally was called off -- no one even bothered to cone out and tell us.

The people who made-the

route could have estimated where we were, approximately. Yet, they let us continue.

Yes,‘I was in the rally. Erratic that we (the navigator and I) did the course, But deflated that

'pitwasallinvain.

All I can say is, that was my first rally and shall be the last I participate in for UPEI.

If you, the organizers,

do not have the guts to stand up to your responsibilities and state that the mistake was on your part instead_of passing the buck off on ‘ the secretary. (By the way that excuse is an old one, at least you could have

had a better one.)

Mistakes in typing ’—’- why were the not proof read? Why was the route not re—driven on Friday using the master sheet and the sheets of going to the rally driverS? It cost little, but tine and effort on your part. You offered to organize -- then, let's see scne organization in the

_ At the last Student ' Council meeting, I sub- mitted my resignation

as Speaker of the U.P.E.I.

“ Student Union.

My experience as Speaker has helped greatly in providing myself with a know— ledge of the workings and the problens of our Student Union. However, because impartiality is an essential component in the position of Speaker, I was unable to take an active role in the decision making process within our Union. It is for this ., reason, combined with a desire to becone more actively involved, that I resigned.

After attending the Dal-U.P.E.I. basketball game last Saturday, I became so irate that I felt I had to give vent to my

anger in your newspaper.

A small mmber of so- called fans seated on the stage put on such a dis-

- gusting exhibition, that

if not arbarrassing them-s - selves personally, certainly enbarrased me as a U.P.E.I. student. 'Ihese people

felt, apparently, that it was their perogative to give a running com-

mentary on the physical condition, intellectual capacity, and sexual preference of everyone involved in the gene—- players,.officials, and even statisticians. A certain amount of this

is to be expected and

is, in fact, a comnon occurrence but it was car— ried to a completely uncalled for extrene.

I'm sure these stu- dents realize that I am ’ referring to them since they definitely stood out in the crowd. I'd like to ask them if they think they are impres— sing sctneone or if they just like to hear

. their own voices.

Maybe I am being oversensitive, 'but if that is the case,
