Great Britain to be Granted the Benefit of the Most Favored Nation Clause.

Panis, March 29.—An official comuni- cation has just been issued relative to the statement by Mr. Curzon in the British house of commons yesterday. Mr. Carzon made the announcement in regard io the anuuling of existing treaties with Mada- gascar, that it was a subject of extreme importance. When the English govern— ment had received official notice of this action, he said they would take proper steps to protect British interests.

The French government in its official note asserts that France cecupies in Mada- gasear a special position and that it is entitled to special treatment in conse— quence. France will accordingly grant to

Long forbearance on the part of the Mother couutry had de- ceived her neighbors, and none of them more than France. Consequently, when- ever any listle difficulty arose between England and France the people of the latter country began at once to talk “fight.” But they are now disposed to discuss such mattera in better temper.
