TORONTO. Dec. 1D—(OP)--Deat.h came today to Aemllius Jarvis, in. tiernationally-known yachtsman, 11- nancier and huntsman, and ended his personal efforts to wipe out a, conviction for conspiracy that. re- sulted from Ontario's biggest scand- al 17 years ago.

His fame as a yaciiisinan was known the world over, l-Ie was com- mcdore several times and a hon- orary life member of the Royal Canadian Yacht Club. He won the Canada's Cup in competition a- gainst the United States in 1896 and 1901 and up to 1923 he had won 300 sailing races in heme and in- ternational waters. _

He was an intimate friend of the late Sir Tacmas Lipton. aiding hlni in his challenges for the Am- ericas Cup and acting as navigat- ing officer aboard Sir Thomas‘ Shamrock boat in the i920 races.

The charges of COMPIYUCY on which Mr. Jarvis was. convicted and served a six-months‘ term in prison followed the collapse of the On- taro government of l-Ion. E. C. Drury in i923. Mr. Jarvis and the late Peter Strltth. Ontario Treasurer. were convicted of conspiracy in the obtaining of bonds from the gov- eriimcn t.
