Horse Kittep.—We learn from the Agri- edturist hat on Wednesday last Mr. Rebert Douglas, of Norboro, went te do some thresh- ‘tor Mr. Peter Harviogton, of the same lace, each putting a horse on the mill. While they were at work the belt came cff, and Mr. Douglas’ horse stumbled, got caught in the nachinery and was killed. Mr. Hwriogton’s horse was injared, bat escaped being killed.

Avard and Drummond shipped 190 lambs for the Unite States market and on the following morning they sent off 439 more. Oa Friday Mr. J. H. Heary also sent away 210 for the sime destination, while Mr. Bliss Fawcett took away 60 for Sackville. On Saturday again 2 0 were shipped by Mr. Mctrath for St. Jobn. Only a few horses were seut away during the last three days.

ball match to bave been played on Saturday last, between the Crescents and a team from Piines of Wales College, did not materialize owing to the latter team not turning up in full force. Although the Crescents had a full fifteen on the ground two of the best men on their picked team were absent—Jchnston } (quarter), and Duffy (forward). After a con- siderable time spent in waiting for the Prince of Wales men to turn up, the Crescents offered to play the students an even thirteen. This Very fair offer was declined. Ali:hough the day was a heliday in the college there was no excuse brought forward fur the absentees. The Crescents natura'ly felt badly treated and afterwards said that they would have plaved the college ia any reasonable way they would demand, but, we understand. that team had neither treaty nor demand to make. There are still sixteen schooners, nearly all of a large size in port, with a carrying capacity of about 53,000 bushels. Of these four are about loaded, and two or three others have taken in part of their cargo, Potatoes moved freely during the week withoutany change in price. The supply is equalto the demand. The decline in the Boston market and the unsatisfactory returns received from cargocs shipped to Nova Se tia ports will have a weakening tendency in price.

Oats have taken an upward tendency, and are now selling at 44 cents a bushel. A considerable quantity changed hands yes- terday. Mr. P. Kelley alone, without any special «ffort, received at his warehouse 800 bushels, and he expects to get 1,000 bushels to-day. Pork is moving Iriskly, with a downward tendency, st from 5 to 5f cents, Daring the last fortnight, Mc- Donald Brc&. purchased over 100 carcasses, and P. Kelley 19,226 lbs. of pork for ship- ment, while other merchants did an equally good business in the pork line. Beef brings from 35 to 45 cents; sheep pelts from 45 to 55 cents; butrer by tub from 18 to 20 cents; eggs 14 cents.

Last year the numb-r of: vessels that en- tered at the Custom [louse up to Nouv. 39 was 149. This yearthe number entered up to date is 146. Judging by the entries, the quantity of produce shipped this year would Le about the same as last year, up te date.

Considerable indignation is manifested at the action of the Harbor Master in allow- ing vessels to dump their ballast into the river, at a short distance from the bridge. Where it is now being deposited, it will be a great obstruction to navigation, and must sooner or later be removed. Why not have it deposited inside the wharves, where it would be a great benefit instead of an in- jury / The attention of the Marine De- partment is respectfully called this very im- portant matter.
