Hawaiian Commerce during the last ten years is the subject of a circular just is- sned by the depsrtment of agriculture at Washington. ‘The facts set forth bear directly upon the current discussion of the annexation of the Hawaiian Islands to the Uuited States and are aa follows: “The comparison of the t tistics s-how that the United States controls ninety per cent of the entire trade of the islands.’ The total value of exports and imports of Hawaii for 1896 was $22.578,882. of which about two-thirds, $15,/15,230 was the value of the goods exported. Tue average of ex- ports forthe ten years, I8>7-1r96, was $'1,053,141, and of imports 85.527,459 laaving an average balance of $3,628,031 in favor of »xporis,

Mr. Farquharson and _ his sattelites were thuuderstruck as Mr. Stewart Jaid bare this most indefencible job and exposed the hollow bluff ng of Mr. Farquharsen in connection therewith.

Mr. Stewart received a splendii recep- tion in this heretofore stronghold of the enemy and Mr. Farquharson is but too sorry he invited him there.

Mr. Scott closed the meeting with a few remarks.
