The annual collection or canvas for the Cancer Fund was carried out in York by the volunteer cal- lcctors. Misses Joan Vessey and Elizabeth MacDonald. A goodly sum was donated.

Professor Johnson has again started his vocal tutoring to the pupils of York School. This note- worthy training is being sponsored by the Women's Institute of York in co-operation with the parents of such pupils.

Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Carew and rs, John and Melvin Carew of Brooklleld were guests recently of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Ling and Mr. and Mrs. B.A. Mallett of York. Among the week-end guests in York from Charlottetown were Misses Helen and Anita -Lewis, Marion Murrayn Aletha rown, Irene Chappell. and Shirley Cooke at their respective homes.

Mrs. William Bowen of Wheat- ley River. who has been visiting friends in York for the past week. has returned to her home. She was accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. Earl Ling. the Misses Joyce and Earls and Mrs. Bowen's sister. Mrs. Louis MacCallum oi Brackley Point. who is visiting in Wheatley River. Although these two sisters have both had operations in the Prince Edward Island Hospitalthis summer they are now enjoying a fair share of good health at the advanced ages of 85 and 00 years.

The September meeting M the Plusvllle Women's ' Institute was held at the borne of Mrs. Fred Ga-llant with an attendance of seventeen mernbera. .

The meeting was opened by prayer: the roll call was answer- ed by naming a favorite present, and there was trwenty-five cents paid out for fruit for the sick. Mrs. Henry Gallant and Mrs. An- geline Blanchard were appointed to visit the sick for the next month.

Mrs. Norbert Corcoi-an was ask- ed to visit the school. and Mrs. John T. Gallant kindly invited the members to her home for the October meeting. where the roll call will be answered by pickling recipes and bingo to raise funds

Mrs. Stevenson is to have charge of the program for October meeting. it was decided that a study he made of home nursing during the win- ter meeting. One membership fee was paid and collection was 31.95. Bill for 31.00 was paid.

The September meeting of Corn- wall-York Point Women's Institute met at the home of Mrs. G. R. Sam on Monday evening. Sept. 3rd. The evening opened with the Institute "Ode" followed by the "Creed" in unison.

Roll call was answered by nine- teen mcmbers and two visitors. Minutes of the last meeting were read. approved and signed. and re- ports of the various committees were heard. Correspondence was read and the Hall Secretary re- ported s20R4.00 as proceeds from meals at the Exhibition.

The treuurer reported that the proceeds from the pantry sale am- ounted to 58.14. It was moved. seconded and carried that ss.oo be given to the Orphanage and sli.00 to the Cancer Fund. it was also decided to get Mr. Harry Weeks to paint sign board for school and also to repair blackboard.

The different committees gave their reports and the delegates then gave an interesting report from the annual convention. It was moved. seconded and carried that 82.00 be paid towards the delegates' fare.
