On Saturday night, at the Victoria Coffee Palace, Waterloo Road, London, was completed a task without parallel in the history of pedestrianism, This was the successful conclusion of B, P. Weston’ slgreat walk of 5,000 miles in 100 days. He started from London on November 21st, 1883, and has covered tifty milesevery day since he first set out, excluding Christmas Day and Sun- days. Some of the distance was tra- versed on high roads, butthe greater part of it has been done inside skating rinks, cireuses,, &c, He has performed this great feat under the auspices of the Church ot Eagland Temperance Society, Oa Saturday, March 8th, he started for Brighton at 2 a. m., to walk to London. He actually covered this distance of fifty three miles without taking a rest, and ashe neared the metropolis the crowds that had gathered to welcome him were enormous.
