The late. Mrs. MacAda.m was born at Pisquld. P. E. I.,- eighty- five years ago, the youngest daughter of Ronald MacDonald. a prominent ship builder, and his wife. Catherine MacDonald! The death of Mrs. Frederick crossman occurred in the early hours of Easter Sunday morning, April 5th, at the home, of her sis- ler, Mrs. George Hennessey, at the age of 60 years? following a long LIIFICBG which she bore with Chris- tian faith. and always had a smile for her many friends who called.

The late Mrs. MacAdam was en- dowed with all the virtues, to an eminent degree, which characterize a lady who is cotvldered a devoted member of Holy Mother Church. Moreover. she -ossesse-'. to an en- viable extent, the attributes which 'pi'omoted the welfare of her fam- ily and caused herself to be pleas- ing and influential for good in the community in which she lived. She was. especially remarked for her charity and kindness. a. conse- quence of which was her spirit of unsurpassed hospitality. There are many -indeed, who will remember her hearty, vivlfying ha-nod-shake and genuine. animated smile of welcome which made all who vis- ited her home feel that their com- ing brought pleasure.

There are left to mourn two sons. Roderick at the home in West St. Peters; Alban at Morell; four daughters, Eunice. Mrs. Vin- cent Murphy. Charlottetown; Irene. Mrs. Eddy Rossiter, Morell; Mar- inn. Mrs. James B. Jay. Morell; Ellie. Mrs. Alexander MacKenzie, Scotchfort. There-are twenty-sev- en grandchildren and twenty-one great grandchildren.

Her temporal needs were diligently attended to by her lov- lug. loyal and devoted son Roder- ick. his son and two daughters who were ever at her side. and who never considered any sacrifice too great as lorlg as it brought comfort to the one who had sacri- ficed and had done so much for them.

The funeral obsequies were con- ducted at St. Andrew's Church. on the morning of March 30th, where regardless of adverse travelling conditions. an exceptionally large number of sorrowlng relatives and friends assembled to pay their last respects.

The remains were met at the door of the church by her pastor. Solemn Requiem High Mass was celebrated by her nephelv. Rev. Reginald F. MacDonald. assisted by Rev. Phalen McKenna. P.P.. Mor- ell, deacon; Rev. Reginald Phalen. ourate. Tracadle. sub-deacon. Her reverend pastor was master of cer- emonies. Present in the sanctuary was Rev. W. V. MacDonald, DD., P.P.. St. Peters Bay.

Her remains were interred in the parish cemetery, beside her hus- band, by her pastor. The pall- bearers were Messrs. A. J.. Francis. Bertram, Reginald, Walter and John J. MacAdsm, grandsons of the deceased.

For Me” was beautifully rendered as a solo by Mr. J. B. Lewis. Free- town. and the hymns "Abide With Me" and "Safe In The Arms Of Jesus" were led by the chdrch choir with Mrs. Russcll.MacKay at the organ. ,

The beautiful floral offerings and the large attendance at the funeral service testified to the es- teem in which the late Mrs. Wick- ctt was held.

The pallbearers were Messrs. E. T. Glydon. Wilbur Dlnnis, John Thompson. Alexander Hiltz. Harry Bowness, and W. D. Profltt. In- terment was in Margate Cemete y.

The funeral took place on March 25th from the MacLean Funeral Home. Her pastor, Rev, .1. T. Ir- wiit. conducted the service The hymns sung were "Rock of Ages" and "Safe In the Arms of Jesus". The Trinity male quartette feel- ingly sang "God Is Waiting In the Silence".

The floral tributes were many and beautiful and testified to the esteem in which the deceased was held. Interment was in the Peo- ple's Cemetery beside her husband who predeceased her in August. 1950. Pallbearers were Messrs. Roy White. Harry Wood. Walter Wood. Cyril MacGl'egor, Wendell Jay and Spurgeon Leard.

The funeral was held in the Canadian Legion Hall. which was packed. and was under the man- zirzeniellt. of the Legion, held on March 11111. The casket was draped with the flag and the Legion wreath of poppies, his military cap and military badges. Six veterans were pallbearers and the rest formed a guard of honour. both on entering and leaving the hall. There were many large and beau- tiful wreaths of flowers arranged on large stands at each end of the casket.

Psalm 23 was read. and "Let. not your heart be troubled-ye believe in God; believe also in Me". Rev. 0. R. Lavers liln Islanderl, pastor of St. Pauls United Church. had charge of the service. Burial was in the plot of honour in the Tro- chu cemetery.

The regular crokinole party sponsored by South Winsloe Y.P.U. was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Earle Rodd. on Thursday evening, Ap 23rd. it this same gathering a presentation was made to Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Rogerson to welcome them to the district.

The minister, Mr. Heber Hardy. called the meeting together, and in his remarks of welcome vividly portrayed the necessity of neigh-

Erlth Hughes presented Mr. and Mrs. Rogerson with an exquisite modern dresser.

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Rogerson:

come to our community. Although you have not lived so many miles from us, yet we have been almost stransers. We want you to know how happy we are to have you both, and your charming young daughter; Carol. take up your abode in our midst. During the past few months not many of us have experienced the heartaches and sorrows which you have en- dured. ind yet you .hnve come through with a smile.

To you. Mrs. Rogerson, you have been constantly in our thoughts during the past winter. At that season of the year it seemed im- possible for all of us to visit you, but we now hope to see you more often. Yet we assure you our thoughts were with you as you were so brave to carry on alone for a few months.

To you, Mr. Rogerson, we recall tonight that at the beginning of the last war, as we all faced a dark future and men of great courage were needed in large num- bers. to this call you nobly re- sponded. and we hoiiou. you to- night as a hero, who went out to stand between us. and those who would destroy us. Words fail to express our gratitude of what you have done on our behalf. and may the hand that guided you safely through the conflict, be ever pre- sent with you in civilian life.

Mr. Val MacDonald, a close neighbour, in welcoming Mr. and Mrs. Rogerson expressed the fact that he was sorry to see his old neighbours leave Wlnsloe, yet he was happy to welcome new ones.

A most pleasant evening of crok- inole,was then enjoyed. the prices being awarded to Mrs. Dan Coles and Mrs. Ivan Turner. A delect- able lunch was then served by the ladies. Three Y. P. U. members, Mrs. Orville Turner, Mrs. Don Coles, and Mrs. Erlth Hughes, ex- tended a vote of thanks to Mr. and Mrs. Rodd for the use of their home and also -stated how pleased they were to welcome Mr. and Mrs.

Rogerson to the district. This most pleasant evening was brought to a close by singing "The Queen".
