A Misunperstanpinc. —We are informed that Mr. Larter and his family, with their ordinary luggage, were passed, free of charge, as per ticket from the Mayor of St. John. His goods coming from St. John afterwards, a6 freight, were duly charged for by the Intercolonial Railway, Steam Navigation Company, and P. E, I. Railway. No order was given by the May- or of St. John for the free conveyance of the effects, and the P. E. I Rallway having paid the charges of the Intercolonial Rail< way and the Steam Navigation Company, consider itself entitled to collect the same upon the goods here.

Your miserable insinuation about paying 100 cts. on # dollar, and adding interest to notes after being drawn, is as contemptible as it is false. Conceived in ignorance, brought forth in meaness, and published in malice, you dare not make such a charge against me in a direct and manly way, lest I should ignore all +‘ phases of the moon” (that you are so well posted in) and hold you res~ nsible as I would 4 sane man. Your enquiry concerning who took money out of Wood and the Buckeye Ma chine Co. years ago, isa conundrum [| can not answer.
