But the incident has provoked a. moot. voluminous correspondence which scams to indicate that much doubt exists as to what the national flag really is. Lord Hawkesbnry, a naval oﬂcer, writes to assert that the Union Jack is “no more the national ﬂag than the Ger-nan Jack or those of Sweden and Norway. The rod ensign is, of course, the national, ﬂag, and is recognized as such the world over.” A “R.
