DRAMA ,MEINCKL'CIMN,

The student Council held a meeting Sun. evening.The chairman of the U.P.E.l. Drama Club Joan MacFarlane brought the organizations budget before the Council.

A motion was passed that the Drama Club be given an allowance of 300.00 dollars. Any profits made by the performances of the club will be given back to the Student Union. _

This is the first time in several years that a Drama Club has been estab- lished on the campus.

A sub-committee will be organized under the vice-president Kevin Gau- thier. The committee will be required to report to council in a monthls time. The committee will be ex- pected to find out the cost of distributing the evaluation form and the method to proceed with the form. The form will con- sist of approx. 50 ques- tions that the students will be required to rate on a scale of five eval- uating the methods of teaching done by the pro- fessors on campus.

The PreSident designate of the university Dr. P. M. Meincke will speak to the university Thursday beginning at 2 P.M. in This will be the first of three vi- sits that the future pres- ident will pay to the stu- dent body. The exchtive of the Student Union plus five other members of the Student Union will join Dr. Meincke at a luncheon prior to the address. Debbie MacMurdo, Chairman of the social committee, Senior class president Jeannette MacAulay, plus Susan Hornby, vice-pres- ident of the Senior class and Mary Ann Hutchinson president of the business society will attend the dinner with the executive.

A general meeting of the student union will be held Thursday November 23rd. The executive of the stu- dent union will give their progress reports before the student body. The meet ing will be held in the Duffy Amp. beginning at 3 P.M. of that day.

Monica Driscoll, Chair- person of the personel board, recommended that Dodi Crane be appointed Chairperson of the student Judicial committee on cam- pus. No other person ap- plied for the position. Other appointments passed by council were 2 students Ron Stanley and Lori Mul- lin to serve on the Athle- tic board.

250 dollars to the Stu- dent Bursary Fund on campus. it was decided that the Union would look into the matter first as the Department of Student Services on campus under director Jim Griffith has control of the Bursary Fund.

During new business, the resignation of CIMN station manager Maurice Rodgerson was brought to the floor.

Communications Officer Mike MacMahon explained

to the council that the station was in need of

a manager immediately. As it will take the personnel board some time to find a replacement, Monica Dris- coll reported to council that she had received a formal letter of resigna- tion and the position would be advertised thru the stu- dent union media. At that point, communications offi- cerPExikﬂ111requested to council that Cheryl Can- non be appointed as inter- im manager of CIMN. After some discussion the appﬁir ntment was passed by coun- cil and the CIMN director was informed of the deci- sion. ‘

The regional co-ordin- ator of the Atlantic Feder- ation of students Don Sou- cey will visit the campus on November llth. Next weekend the federation will hold an Atlantic conference in Halifax. There was con~ siderable discussion over the choice of candidates that would be sent to the conference of behalf of UPEl. The council also questioned the matter of the union paying their fees to the organization.

At a previous meeting council had passed a mot- ion that the university would withold their fees from the AFS until the or- ganization proved to be a creditable institution. The AFS have had financial difficulties in the past few months. With no fur- ther new business the me- eting was adjourned.
