A few days before William Ashworth, of Oregon, Me., died, he hid a quantity of gold coin. That was fitteen years ago, and though a careful search wag made for the treasure, it could not be found. Last week Mrs. Asbworth emptied ancid churn that had stood ou @ shelf in the smoke-house for years. The churn was full of beans, and in the bottom was atin can, and in the can was an old woollen sock, and in the sock was the long searched for gold, Tt amounted to $712.

Un Sunday, the 23rd ult, Wayne Anderson, a wealthy and respected farmer of Mountain Grove, Mo., was found murdered one and a half miles north of the town. He attended the Masonic Lodge Saturday night, leaving the hall to walk home two and a half miles distant. He was found on Sup- day morning, lying on his back shot in the throat and breast. Next day, dur- ine the coroner’s inqnest, two soi of the deceased, Ed, and Henry Ander- a aod a companion namcd Rwing Sanders, coufested to the crime, each accusing the other of doing the shgot- ig.
