Coroner Murray, of New Glasgow, at the request of the Inspector of Mines, on Satur- day, consented to hold an inquest on the re mains of Angus McG 1 vray.

The body was identatied and canse of death ascertained, when the inquest was adjourned till Wednesday.

An appeal for help has been made. twenty thousand dollars are wanted.

The outlook for the winter months is a black one. Not only are there over forty fatherless families to support, but three hundred men have been thrown out ef employment for the next six months.

The loss of property is roughly estimated at $100,000, but if the fire is not got under it will quickly roll to a millien.

The steamer Prince Edward arrived at Liv- erpool from Moutreal on the 13th inst., 14 days’ passage, carrying a deck load of cattle. A hundred and ten were shipped, two of which died on the passage. This is the fourth cargo of live stock the Prince Edward has carried this season— three from Moutreal and one frem Uharlottetown-—and she did not lose one overboard. ‘This speaks well for her as a good sea boat.

We publish the Rev. Mr. Hodgson’s sermon of last eveuiug, on what is knuwn as the “Deceased Wite’s Sister Bill,” because the subject is one of great interest and importance to the public. Mr. Hodgson treats it with great ability, and we have vo doubt his views regarding it will be very generally criticized.

We learn that a Concert will be given in the Y. M, G. A. Hall by several of the most talented amateurs in this city, assisted by the Charlettetown Quintette Club, in aid of the Asylum for the Blind at Halifax, on the 25th inst. Full particulars in future numbers.

sted upon by the authorities.

Tuz Charlottetown Philharmonic Society meets for practice on Friday evening next, in the Y. M. VU. A. Hall. We are ylad to learn that Mr. Farle intends giving us the ‘‘Mes- siah” this winter. This will indeed be a treat.
